DiveKomodo Safety

We are proud to have operated a safe dive business since the beginning. Our recipe to safe diving includes; all boats are fitted with full safety equipment like Marine radio, 100% oxygen, First Aid kit, Liferaft, life jackets and life rings.

Our boats are custom built for the local conditions and are very stable in the water. Each of our boats have their own dinghy. They are useful to pick up guests where main boat can’t get near such as shallow water or going shore.

Our boat crew are very experienced, in fact all our captains and many crew have worked with us 7-11 years and know Komodo National Park like the back of their hands.

Our senior dive staff have many thousands of dives in the area and continuously assess dive conditions to ensure everyone stays safe yet get to dive the best sites available! We are used to take beginners as well as experienced divers and will choose sites and dive plans accordingly. Operating two days boats also gives us the option of offering separate programs for different experience levels when needed.

We only use high quality dive equipment that is suitable for local conditions. We have several qualified Equipment Repair Specialists in our team that will maintain and repair equipment when needed. Every BCD is also fitted with a signal tube for emergency use.

We give full safety and dive site briefings and have many safety measures in place including keeping the groups small (max 4:1), keeping the groups together, not pushing decompression or depth limits, always doing safety stop and taking minimum 1 hour surface intervals.

Since 2019 there is now a decompression chamber in Siloam Hospital in Labuan Bajo. We recommend all our guests to have an insurance covering scuba diving. For those who need we can help to arrange short-term cover with our preferred insurance agency DAN.
